Meet Ryan

I’m running for Yolo County Superior Court Judge because I want to continue serving the community that has been my home for more than 40 years. My wife, Nikola, and I both grew up in Yolo County and we’re proudly raising our own family here.

I currently serve as a Court Commissioner for the Sacramento County Superior Court, where I preside over family law cases involving divorce, child custody and visitation, child and spousal support, and domestic violence. Before joining the bench, I worked as a Deputy Attorney General with California’s Department of Justice and as a public defender at the county, state, and federal levels, gaining deep experience in civil and criminal law.

I believe judges all should listen carefully, treat everyone with respect, and make decisions grounded in compassion, integrity, and fairness. I’m running to bring those commitments home, and to help my judicial colleagues and justice partners ensure that Yolo County’s courts remain worthy of the public’s trust.

Ryan leads his courtroom with compassion and respect. He is committed to the view that everyone deserves the opportunity to be heard and to be treated humanely, regardless of their background. Ryan believes that every person is entitled to a level of compassion and respect that isn’t earned and can’t be forfeited.

Integrity

Ryan brings integrity to every case he hears. He will not be intimidated by powerful interests or by inappropriate litigation tactics, but will decide cases based on fair factfinding and evenhanded application of the law. Ryan’s goal is to uphold the rule of law and to ensure that every person, business, and government body faces appropriate legal consequences for their actions.

Justice

As a Judicial Officer and member of California’s Judicial Council, the policymaking body of California’s judiciary, Ryan has demonstrated his commitment to the consistent, independent, impartial, and accessible administration of justice. Ryan believes that access to justice must never be undermined by language, economic, or other barriers.
